The toddler area is in the main room which is divided from the older children. Children have access to quiet play, sensory play, physical play and loud play.
Children can participate in any activities but structured play also takes place such as storytelling, encouraging creative play and imaginative play.
Within this area children can access their little library, our indoor pine lodge cabin for extra quietness and explore their differing senses.
The National Early Years curriculum will be achieved through fun activities to ensure that children have a positive experience of learning, whilst ensuring that they develop as individual children and individuals needs are met.
At times children in this age group will play with the older children to encourage socialisation with older children. This will be done under supervision and all children will be encouraged to participate in the play activities.
Outdoors
Children have direct access to our large gardens which cater for all play needs. We offer physical play through bikes, trikes and the ‘like a bike’ ethos which develops balance and co-ordination of the little ones on two wheels.
The large surfaced area also provides an activity area for children to participate in organised games and activities, if the weather is not suitable then our upstairs training room offers a large area for physical fun play.
We have a little vegetable plot where children are encouraged to plant, grow and eat the vegetable that they have grown.
We also plant flowers, and undertake environmental activities; this could be making bird boxes or seeded cones for example.
Our nursery encourages children to explore the outdoor world, they are encouraged to play in all weathers if appropriate, waterproof clothing is available to ensure that children can have lots of fun in puddles and discover the elements around them.
We also have a mini bus available where children will be given access to local woods to take part in Forest School and Playing with the Elements activities. We will also visit local events and parks to ensure that children have a range of opportunities.
